Etchings

These prints are mostly made in two slightly different ways. The photographic transfer etching technique is a process in which an image is transferred onto a photosensitive zinc plate.  The plate is then printed in the traditional way and the tones can be manipulated depending upon the amount of time the plate is immersed in acid.

The photocopy transfer etching is a technique that starts with a photograph which is then photocopied in the negative and transferred onto a steel plate.  The ink then repels the acid creating the image.  This technique tends to create a rough, textural finish.
